New Life-Again
I received word last night that a dear friend of over 13 years had her first child on Tuesday. It was a healthy baby girl that they named Lux. Mom, Dad, and Baby are doing good. I am so happy for T. We have been close friends for a long time and been through a lot together. I remember when she met C. and how excited she was and even more that she was pregnant. I can’t wait to welcome the newest addition to the world.
On a similar line, I was able to be there to celebrate new life in another way also this morning. To some it may not be a big deal, but a friend celebrated a year of sobriety today. What makes it more amazing was that she had 16 years sober and drank. Most people who have a problem and drink do not make it back. Whether it be guilt or shame (all pride and ego) they usually die drunk. What is more amazing was watching all the men and omen whom she had helped over the years rally around and do for her what she had directed others to do in the same situation. Fellowship and community I think are a necessity in life. That is a common factor in most religions and spiritual based ideals. Once I think I am different, I separate myself from those around me. Then I start keep looking at what makes me different and not the similarities. Then I start comparing my inside feelings to what I perceive is going on my looking at others outsides. Not a good place for a selfish being to be. That is why it is good to get out of myself and try to be of service to others.
Hockey:Great game last night. I got home and went to watch the end of the game on the DVR. With 1:38 left, hanging on the edge of my seat, the DVR stopped recording. Shit! I went to NHL.com to get the score, and was happy to see that Carolina won. It was frustrating for a moment though.
I have started recording some stuff for a podcast on my little digital memo recorder. I also have an iTalk on the way for my ipod and will see which records best, etc… Like the evolution of this site/ blog (starting as a bad geocities style picture intensive no content portal) the podcasts will take time to fine tune and I am sure they will get their groove soon. I am toying with the name though. A few I have are: FEJcast, VitaMetaFEJamin (a I Love Lucy reference, using META instead of Meat), or The fine line between Comedy and Blasphemy. Maybe a combination. What are your thoughts?
