NASA geek
I don’t know if I have mentioned this, but I am a NASA geek among other things. One of my prized possessions is an autographed NASA PR card/ photo of Buzz Aldrin standing on the moon.
With that, I am very excited that The Mars Phoenix has landed on Mars. I have been following it’s Twitter Feed as well as the photos and updates on the site.
I wanted to be an astronaut, and still do. I think going to space would be amazing. Seeing things only a handful of people have seen would be , pardon tis pun, Out of this world.
I am excited that these missions are still being executed. While I can’t say that all government money and taxes should be used for these ventures, I do believe that some should be in the continuation of science and the possibilities of exploration by the human race. Here on Earth there are a lot of things that need immediate attention, like poverty, healthcare and, science, but space research could also help find resolutions for the health and science portions, as it has done in the past. (Tang, need I say more?)
Nowadays, there is going to be a need for financial support from the private sector. I do hope that these things can continue. If only ot help fuel the dreams of little (and not so little) kids for generations to come.
