What..me exercise?
A couple of months ago, I was on fire. I was riding the bike almost every day, doing the One Hundred Push Up challenge, really feeling good. Then I hit a wall.
I kept failing at Week 5 and got discouraged. Right around thy same time the rear hub on my bike locked up and I was without a bike for a couple weeks.
My buddy Jeff, who is helping me out with a new setup on my bike, gave me a loaner bike until the parts get here (the hub was backordered), gave me a loaner bike in the meantime, for which I am grateful. It is a little hard to adjust to it because of the way it is set up, so I am not riding it as much as I did mine. That, and I don’t want to trash it.
Bottom line is I have become lazy, and I don’t like it. Luckily there is relief in sight. The parts are in and I will be getting my bike back Sunday. With improvements! We are adding a new rear wheel with a fixed/free hub, me pedals with straps, and caliper brakes. I will ride it single spped for a while, but I have a feeling I will switch to fixed soon enough.
As for the Push-ups, I am going to start over Monday. Anyone care to join me?
While I am making “new day resolutions” I also pledge to call the people I should call more, write more handwritten letters, eat healthier (stick to my restrictions), say my prayers, eat my vitamins like a good Hulkamaniac, suit up, show up, live usefully, and walk humbly.
Is that too much to strive for?
