Recently I purchased the Amazon Kindle. I love it. It has renewed my love for reading. I am the type of reader who will read multiple books at a time. I have the bedside book, the lunch book, the book that stays in the car for emergencies, and then my tech books. Now I only have to cary the one item and be able to have them all.
As for the actual reading, Amazon did a great job with the color of the screen and the “eInk.” It is very easy on the eyes and the font is easy to adjust depending on comfort and distance.
At the rate I am going, I am averaging 2 books a week. I have already finished Little Brother and Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow. Both are amazing tech-geek fiction aimed at young-adults of all ages. Little Brother is realistically scary as the way the world can go if we do not defend our privacy.
I just started by “Zoe’s Tale” (John Scalzi) and have “Anathem” (Neal Stephenson) on order. All Delivered wirelessly to my Kindle from either the Amazon store or the authors website.
There are a multitude of sites which offer free, legal downloads of books. Also you Amazon offers a free way to convert my pre-existing PDF’s to the Kindle format.
If you are a reader, I highly recommend the Amazon Kindle. I have tried many ebook readers over the years, and this is the best by far!
