And were back

After a 4 month haitus, I renewed my hosting with Dreamhost. Luckily for me they kept everything here! Even ruleoftheinternet.com, which has Wheaton’s Law on it, was saved.
I hope to be updating and getting back into my geek mode more now that I don’t have the Lead responsibility I formerly had. That and I am learning to not tale work home with me.
Most of all expect more pictures of the cats and of our new puppy Jasper. Here he is with Katie’s horse Dallas.

The mean old man downstairs

A couple weeks after Katie and I moved into this apartment, what I thought was 2 younger guys moved into the apartment upstairs. No big deal. Over the last month or so we have noticed there was a lot of noise, especially after 11 and at times we were woken up at 1am and later. Last week we were woken up at 2 by kids throwing stuff at their window while standing by our window.

When they moved in, Katie told me they were just kids and not to stress. We had both had our first apartments and been excited and a probably a little louder. I agreed and let it go for the most part, but when it really started getting to Katie also, things had to be done. I asked them a couple times to keep it down, not pound around, etc. Then we had to resort to the pounding back on the ceiling with the broom . (I know, seems like a movie cliche’) Finally, when it didn’t stop, I called the leasing office. They said that they would send a complaint letter to the tenants. Cool, a little scare would help.

So, this afternoon, two of the tenants knocked on the door and asked to talk. It seems that one of the kids father was the guarantor on the lease and the leasing office called him directly. The kid looked pretty shaken and wanted to know what they could do to alleviate the situation. After a g nice chat I found out their were 4 guys living up there (Three just out of High School) and going to art school. They admitted to dropping their supplies when they get home, hence the pounding. It turns out the one I had asked a few times to keep it down never relayed it to the others.

In order to head it off in the future, they gave me their number so we can call before we have to call the office. Something we would rather do. I would much rather be the cool guy downstairs rather than the mean old man. Good thing we don’t have a lawn

Missing

Hi there interwebs. It seems like its been forever. Life has been hectic. Yes, I have been around on Twitter and Twitter and Facebook, but not really present anywhere else. Do I have nothing to say? Or just not the time to say it? I will admit life has been hectic and I have disconnected myself a lot.  Work has been real rewarding, but also hectic and humbling. I gave up my participation in OC Metblogs and OC Daily Photo due to lack of time and passion when I get home from work. I also cut donw a couple other weekly commitments I had. All work and no play make FEJ a dull boy. A majority of my time on the computer at home now consists of Farmville, Roller Coaster Kingdom, and Cafe World. Fun but brainless games to decompress to. The rest of the time I have been trying to be present in reality. Is this a justification, no. it is more of a clearing of the mind.

The past couple weeks I have been getting reconnected with people, groups, and activities that I love. It reminds me of the little things that are important. I have found that the internet makes it easy to stay connected but it does not replace the actual interaction with people. A couple weeks ago, my friend Greg and I went to see Pearl Jam at the Gibson amphitheater and it was awesome. They rocked! Thanks toDonnie for the hookup! A couple days later I met Donnie in San Diego for lunch and it was real good to catch up. I have also been rededicating myself into the service work I know keeps me sane. I have some cool plans coming up, a spiritual retreat, and some cool geekfest type activities.

What does this mean? not much. I’m just barfing words.
