Damn it Mom, I’ve got my headgear on

I am forty but I feel like I am fourteen again. I need to wear a night guard on my teeth so I don’t grind my fillings off or my teeth down. It feels like I am wearing a retainer, which, in a way, I am. I posted about getting it fitted a couple weeks ago, and now I have been wearing it a couple weeks.

It still feels weird, but I think it is helping. I may have a little TMJ and hopefully this and stretching/ relaxing will help to ease it.

It is pretty funny when I talk with it in. I get a lisp and Katie likes to make fun of me.

Oh the joys of getting old.

Slave to the grind

Over the last month or so I noticed I was clenching, grinding, and tapping my teeth a lot. A byproduct of tyt seemed to be the headaches I was getting with more frequency. I was hoping it would go away on it’s own, but it has not. I don’t like going to doctors if I don’t have to, but after some deserved harrasment by Katie I made appointments with my massage therapist/chiropractors office and the dentist Katie goes to. (I haven’t been since 2005 on my old insurance. I hate finding new doctors/dentists)

I am glad I finally went. The massage was no fun. Some major knots in my neck and jaw. Could have lead to the grinding. I am wondering if that was a result of the week I tried a different bar adjustment on my bike. Regardless I need to keep my jaw streched and continue with the massages.

On Friday I went to the dentist and found out that in fact I ground down two previous fillings. One had a new cavity starting undeneath the remaining part of the filling. Yay. So after two fillings and being fitted for a bite guard to prevent further damage. I did get a giggle when, during xrays I realized I forgot to take my septum ring out (see pictures)

A fun couple days for me, and a little footwork to correct the problem, but things could be worse. It is easier to live in the solution rather than the problem

Been a while

I know I haven’t updated in a while. On Tuesday I got my stent removed. What a weird sensation. Basically just pulled the threat and it wound itself out. My family doctor is real cool. He jokingly asked if I wanted to see it but seemed taken aback when I asked if I could keep it. Then he remembered that Mom is a nurse and my sister is fascinated by that type of thing. He put it in a specimen jar and I got to keep it. It is weird, like a piece of wire.

I forgot that I parked on the wrong street the other day and got a parking ticket. Damn $41 problem of my own making! oh well.
